Susan had her fourth surgical procedure performed three> days ago. The surgeons> put a drain shunt in her skull to alleviate a chronic> hydrocephalus condition> (hydrocephalus is a build up of fluid inside the skull,> leading to brain> swelling). The shunt has a drain tube attached which> empties into the abdomen.> This device will remain permanently in Susan, as will the> metal coil placed to> fix the initial aneurysm. The shunt emplacement surgery> went very well. > > > >The good news is that Susan is scheduled to come home> tomorrow (Friday) but may> need a few days of physical therapy, and, of> course, many follow-up visits with the neurologists. She> will not be fully> recovered for at least another three, maybe four, weeks. So> things are looking> much better. She is being transferred out of the ICU some> time today in preparation for her release tomorrow, or Saturday at the latest. Thank you for all your prayers. It truly is a miracle how well she has come out of this. God Bless All J
