Just thought I would share this with you.and ALL of our beloved pray-ers:

Thank you, everyone, for your continued prayers. We are blessed and we are grateful! Kyle's vent settings have remained the same for 3 days as his lungs continue to heal. While we are so thankful that he isn't any worse, both Don and I are quite anxious for Kyle to be healed enough to be breathing without assistance and to be out of this coma. It is sooo difficult to leave his bedside when he is in this condition.

Over the past three days they have gradually lowered his sedation while increasing pain medication, so Kyle is becoming more active. He is moving arms and legs, eyes have fluttered open a few times, and last night he nodded a few times when the nurse was asking him questions. These are positive signs to us, but now they must restrain his hands to prevent him from getting tangled and pull out his tubing.

Yesterday he had a tough spell when he coughed so hard that he coughed his breathing tube out of position. They had to reposition it and then wrestle him on his side for an xray to make sure it was in the proper place. He got really ticked and his numbers went crazy for an hour, then it took most of the afternoon for his oxygen level to return to where it is supposed to be. Drs and nurses tell us it is two steps forward and one step back, and this is a long healing process. So we are trying to be patient. Just pray for the lung healing to continue. This morning before I got out of bed the scripture, "Be still and know that I am God." popped into my head. Today I will more patient and praise God more for his healing of Kyle.

Nancy
